What is a tarot card?

A tarot card is one of 78 cards that make up a tarot deck. Tarot cards are typically divided into the Major Arcana, which consists of 22 cards, and the Minor Arcana, which consists of 56 cards.
The Major Arcana cards depict archetypal themes, with cards like The Fool, The Lovers, The World, The Tower, and so on. These cards are often viewed as representing the major events and turning points in a person’s life.
The Minor Arcana cards are divided into four suits; Cups, Wands, Swords and Pentacles, each suits has 14 cards. These cards are often viewed as representing the more everyday aspects of a person’s life, such as relationships, work, and finances.
Each card has its own image or symbol, and specific meanings are often attached to each card. A tarot reader will use the cards as a tool for divination and guidance by interpreting the cards drawn during a reading and how they relate to each other. The meaning of the card can vary depending on the context of the reading and the interpretation of the reader.
